WN Education Development Program Welcome from the WN Education Program Chair Educational development opens the door to infinite knowledge, wisdom and opportunity. The WN Education Development Program will provide programs and services that address the educational needs of underserved communities, the educational development of youth and adults, and the advancement of women in the education arena. Through these programs and services WN will address illiteracy and high school dropout rates in the community. WN will assist immigrant women in which English is a second language to become more proficient. In addition, WN will raise the awareness of parents by educating them on their children's educational rights and societal partialities that occur in communities of color. The purpose of the WN Education Development Program workshops and seminars are to encourage and promote Positive examples of successful career development to women of all ages that are switching job fields, entering, or transitioning into the employment market. Educational advancement by offering tailored learning venues Workshops & Seminars I. WN Mentor Program A mentor program that bridges women from all walks of life (age 12 to adulthood) by offering mentor services for professional development. Mentors will be assigned to other women of color in their area of interest based on need. The WN Mentor Program houses the " In Her Light " service where mentors and mentees participate in a host of interactive activities and events (e.g shadowing their mentors in their daily activities). II. WN Book Club The WN Book Club will host rap sessions that pair WN members based on their reading levels. The WN Book Club also hosts the WN Book Forum which invites women of color authors to speak at informational sessions about their respective literary works and to promote the importance of reading.
