WN Political Education & Awareness Program

Welcome from the WN Political Education & Awareness Program Chair

The WN Political Education & Awareness Program aims to conduct programs promoting political awareness and social justice among women of color and their communities. These programs will teach political communication and information thus fostering an understanding of how politics relates to the community. Through this program area, WN will educate members about the comprehension of legislative policies, provide working knowledge of the policy-making process and distribute policy alerts.

The purpose of the WN Political Education & Awareness workshops and seminars are to encourage and promote:

•  Citizen Empowerment by providing educational opportunities to increase personal knowledge of political process.

•  Community Empowerment by providing educational opportunities to increase members' ability to work with the community to realize its ability to participate in influencing issues that affect their lives.

Workshops and Seminars

I. Politics & ME* Series

Workshop series educating participants on how to identify related local, state and federal policies and key political issues in their communities that impact their way of life.

II. Political Forum

These discussion forums led by subject-matter experts about civil and constitutional liberties/ rights help promote citizen empowerment by raising awareness of political activities. This will serve as a conduit for empowering and educating WN members to become more proactive in political events.
